Their home has become a haven where many people seeking a deeper purpose and meaning in life have found faith in God. He is the author of Becoming a God Magnet: The Secret to Sharing Your Faith. Becoming a God Magnet has been featured in a number of magazines including: Beyond Ordinary Living, Alpha, and Charisma, and Harvey Katz has appeared on the Christian Television Network to discuss his groundbreaking book. Music Minister of the Week: Vickie Winans
The Woman to Woman: Songs of Life CD is the perfect capstone for a 20-year career that has seen Vickie Winans receive many accolades including 6 Grammy Award nominations; 8 Stellar Awards, and an NAACP Image Award. In that span of time, she’s released 9 projects, with 2003’s “BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER” debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Gospel Chart. It’s doubtful that Vickie’s parents knew that their 7th child would be a Billboard-charting gospel icon. But while singing her first solo in church at the age of 8, it’s certain that Aaron and Mattie Bowman saw something special in their daughter. Growing up in church in Detroit, MI, she honed her skills and belted out songs stunning audiences time and time again. Eventually, she connected with the Winans family who set her on the path to gospel superstardom.  Decades later, Vickie Winans is not only known as an award-winning gospel recording artist, but she’s revered as a consummate business woman that heads of Viviane, Inc. where she manages herself and books hundreds of shows per year.  She is also the President of her own record label, Destiny Joy Records. An actress and a comedienne as well, she’s so thankful for all that God has done for her. Vickie Winans knows she’s a blessed woman and she’s eager to share her life’s experiences with everyone she comes in contact with. Her infectious personality and her thousand-watt smile will disarm the coldest stranger.  “Although I’ve had my share of heartaches, pain, and sickness over the years, I know that God has truly blessed me. It’s because of Him that I have a fantastic family, great friends, and a rewarding career!”  E-mail address: vwinans@aol.com. Inspirations

The Word of God for this Week
"And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”  — 1 Samuel 30:6

The Encouraging Word for this Week
"God really is there. He really does exist, and He made us for Himself. Knowing that He is there, and therefore that we do not live in a silent universe, changes everything. To know that we can speak, and there is Someone who will answer fills the vacuum of life that would otherwise be present. And then, when we realize His love for us as individuals--that Christ really did die for us as individuals, for us personally--life is entirely different." --Francis A. Schaeffer

The Prayer Motivator for this Week
MOTIVATING VERSE:

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." —Hebrews 4:16

PRAYER QUOTE: "We must alter our lives in order to alter our hearts, for it is impossible to live one way and pray another." --William Law

The Soul-Winning Motivator for this Week
"He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." --Psalm 126:6

SOUL-WINNING QUOTE: "Any church that is not seriously involved in helping fulfill the Great Commission has forfeited its biblical right to exist." -- Oswald J. Smith

Black Christian HistoryGeorge Lisle - February 23, 1814 -- The foundation of the Baptist Mission in Jamaica had been laid by a few black and "coloured" men who had gone to the island from America in 1782. Some of them had been slaves in the United States who had been granted liberty by their owners. Some were Christians when they arrived in Jamaica, while others had been converted after their arrival. The most noted were George Lisle (the first ordained black in America), George Lewis, George Gibb and Moses Baker. It was chiefly through Moses Baker's recruiting efforts that the English Baptist Missionary Society took up missionary work in Jamaica. The first missionary sent from England in response to Baker's pleas was John Rowe, who landed at Montego Bay, February 23, 1814. Source: BlackChurchMissions.org
